13-Day Tarangire Ngorongoro Crater Lake Natron - Mt Oldonyolengai and Mt Kilimanjaro via Machame

Day 1: Transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to Mc Ellys Hotel.

Pick up from Kilimanjaro Airport and drive to Mc Ellys Hotel. English speaking driver guide will provide brief about your safari,
Then visit Tanzanite Museum.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, pickup from Mc Ellis Hotel at 08:30am, drive to Tarangire National Park enjoy a full day game drive with picnic lunch. Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square kilometers and at dry times, the concentration of inn animal’s rivals that of the much better known Serengeti – the game numbers are staggering: E.g. 30,000 Zebras, 25,000 Wildebeests, 5,000 Buffaloes, 3,000 Elephants, 2,500 Maasai Giraffes and over 1,000 Fringe-eared Oryx’s (gemsbok), Predators include Lions, Cheetah and Leopards. Also flocks of birds: E.g. Green Wood Hoopoes, Fisher Lovebirds, white bellied go-away birds and giant kingfishers. Late evening drive to Migombani Camp for dinner and overnight, with Hot shower, mosquito nets, Wi-Fi available.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast at 06:00am, you will check-out, and with your picnic lunch, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a once in a lifetime experience. Game drive for 6 hours. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and elephant. Another big draw to this picturesque Park is it’s dense population of predators, including lion, hyena, jackal, cheetah and the ever-elusive leopard. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater, where a large number of flamingos, hippo and other water birds can be seen. Late afternoon drive back to Migombani Camp for for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Natron and Ngarasero Waterfalls

After breakfast have a game drive en route to Lake Natron, arrive at worldview camp for a hot lunch. After lunch drive to the bottom of the Mountain and start a short walk to the Ngarasero waterfalls for swimming to the River pool and enjoy viewing deferent spices of birds and butterflies At evening walk again to the car and drive to Lake Natron to see one of the major flocks of Flamingos breeding areas and you will enjoy to see deferent species of waterbeds. Late evening after sunset you will drive back to the camp for dinner and then settle in for your overnight stay.

Day 5: Climb Mt OlDonyoLengai 9442 ft / 2878m volcanic active-Maasai Mountain of God

At 1.00am have a cup of coffee, and meet Maasai English speaking Mountain guide who will guide you to the Summit, then drive to the Mt OlDonyoLengai climbing starting point, it is hard and steep, you have to be a mountaineer, there is climbing on the rocks, climb with your guide up to the Mt Oldonyolengai Summit 9442 ft / 2878m see Volcanic eruption. From Summit view the magnificent landscape of the wonderful Ngorongoro Crater, Mt Longido, Lake Natron, Maasai Bush-land, Mt Kitumbeine, Mt Kerimasietc After sunrise descend down slowly to the starting point, the driver will wait you there and drive back to the camp, then return back to the campsite for lunch. After lunch drive to Migombani campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Arusha Leisure day

After breakfast, drive to Mc Ellys and rest full day

Day 7: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

  • Elevation (ft): 5,400ft to 9,400ft
  • Distance: 11 km
  • Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
  • Habitat: Rain Forest
  • To drive from Arusha to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate takes about one hour driving. The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. We now leave the park gate and walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Lower down, the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles are a good idea here. We continue a short distance until we reach the Machame Camp. Meals & Drinks:

Day 8: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Elevation (ft): 9,400ft to 12,500ft
•Distance: 5 km
•Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
•Habitat: Moorland
After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather, until the ridge ends.
The route now turns west onto a river gorge.
Time for rest, dinner, and overnight at the Shira campsite.

Day 9: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

  • Elevation (ft): 12,500ft to 13,000ft
    •Distance: 10 km
    •Hiking Time: 6-8 hours
    •Habitat: Semi Desert
    From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the “Shark’s Tooth.” Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000ft.
    We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000ft.
    Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.

Day 10: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

  • Elevation (ft): 13,000ft to 15,000ft
    •Distance: 9km
    •Hiking Time: 8-10 hours
    •Habitat: Alpine Desert
    After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. Then, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail.
    We continue up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day.
    The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.

Day 11: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut

    10,000ft)
    •Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent
    •Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent
    •Habitat: Arctic
    Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek.
    At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all they way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit Uhuru Peak 5,895mt. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit
    From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Meals & Drinks:

Day 12: Mweka camp to Arusha

•Elevation (ft): 10,000ft to 5,400ft
•Distance: 10 km
•Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
•Habitat: Rain Forest

After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).

From the gate, you continue another hour to Mweka Village.
A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to Arusha.

Day 13: Transfer to Airport

After breakfast, at 09:00am you will check-out and make your way back to Arusha Town. Upon arrival, you will take part in a tour of the town and visit Tanzanite Museum and enjoy some time for shopping in Arusha town.

Later in the afternoon, you will drive to Arusha Airport where you will be dropped off. This is where your safari will end
